The technology that powers solar lights is currently not growing at the same rate as their popularity. Home improvement warehouse stores have more solar downLights in their inventory than traditional lights. While this article isn't intended to prevent you from buying solar, there are some things you must know before you do. Solar may seem like an easy and inexpensive way to beautify your garden, but maintenance and spotty functionality are issues to consider.
One of the biggest disadvantages of solar lights that are there are endless cloudy or overcast days, the solar lights is unable to charge. The inability to charge means that the lights will not emit light in the evening. In many countries, this disadvantage is not a major one as they enjoy year round sun, even in the winter months. Before opting to spend money on solar lights, it will be wise for the homeowner to take into consideration the disadvantages of solar lights. It is important to remember that the lights will require a large amount of sunlight to completely recharge their batteries and to emit a steady flow of light at dusk. If the solar lights are kept in shady areas, they will also not receive the right amount of sunlight. In smaller gardens with large trees, trying to find a suitable charging area for the lights may be difficult.
