Anyone who has seen a rock and roll show, an award ceremony or a theatre production has experienced the illuminating effects of spotlights. Spotlights are light sources that send out a cone of light. It has a defined conic volume and is used to illuminate objects within this conical volume. Torches, desk lamps and theatre lights are all examples of spotlights but mostly spotlights are used in stage performances.
A theatre spotlight is any light with a lens that you can focus onto a particular part of a stage. There are many spotlight types. Generally, stage crew hang them from above but you can also mount them on "trees." A tree is a wooden or metal structure with a pole center to put lights on.
Most theatres will use a variety of wallLights, building up their collection as they grow. Some will have some gobos and other special effect add-ons on hand while some will rent or borrow. The same is true for follow spots. Generally, a designer will have the Lekos, Fresnels and PARS arranged on bars hanging slightly in front of and above the stage. These are set to be flexible. Each show will have its own lighting needs and the spot lights will need to be adjusted to best reflect the look the director is aiming for.

Surface Lighting
A surface light-source device is composed of a light guide plate, luminescent panels and reflector sheets. The light guide plate is composed of three light guide units respectively formed in a rectangular plate-like shape having a rectangular light emission surface, a thick portion, a thin side portion, an incline rear portion and a parallel groove. The luminescent panel includes two element lines formed by aligning LEDs. The parallel groove is formed so as to be symmetrical about a center line, which is perpendicular to the light emission surface, and so as to dwindle its width toward the light emission surface. The light emitted from the LED toward an overhead portion and having the highest brightness is diffused by a groove surface of the parallel groove and is taken into the light guide unit. Thus, brightness unevenness is reduced at the light emission surface.
Thus, a flexible surface lighting system with replaceable LedLights modules is described above that is for use on various venue surfaces, is more resistant to venue environmental factors, and provides for an easier method of installing/replacing one or more lights as discussed below. In each of the above embodiments, the different positions and structures of the present invention are described separately in each of the embodiments. However, it is the full intention of the inventor of the present invention that the separate aspects of each embodiment described herein may be combined with the other embodiments described herein. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that adaptations and modifications of the just-described preferred embodiment can be configured without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. For example, other plastics can be used for extrusion. Alternately, various elements of the invention can be separately extruded and later connected. Light pollution and energy waste caused by badly designed, badly used, or simply unnecessary lighting, is a growing problem.
