Outdoor Lights normally adhere to specific outdoor regulations and guidelines to ensure safety and weather protection. The wall wash approach has already been covered in our article on Kichler outdoor wall lighting .there are two other forms of wall lighting that you may find useful in different circumstances.
1)Spotlights and floodlights-The first is the traditional spotlight or floodlight. These can obviously be used for other purposes, but work well to bring focused illumination to the walls of your property.
2)Surface lighting-The second way to provide very specific outdoor wall lighting is to use attached or inset lights to give very localized illumination. Kichler make two different types of wall or post lights.

LED Downlights
LED stands for light emitting diodes. LedLights are very energy efficient and also last a long time. LED downlights are a relatively new innovation but one that can save you significant amounts of money on your lighting bill. In fact, LED downlights can last up to 50 times as long as a standard halogen downLights, while using only 10 percent of the energy used by halogen downlights.
Solar lights has been a pretty challenging topic with the guy. He tells us that the lights are not that bright, but we understand that, we require lighting to see stuff, not for reading etc, as we would just use downlights or fluro. Plus the new power pricing will save us money in the future.
Has anyone been using downlights and/or fluro lights and/or solar, and noticed the power consumption low, but adequate for "good" lighting - nothing to bright that we will need to squint to look where we walk.

WALL LIGHTS USE
Hallways: Wall Sconces are often found in long Hallways where they provide the general illumination for foot traffic.
Dining room: Wall Sconces are also very popular in the Dining room where, coordinated with the chandelier, they add a layer of 'ambient light' and an appealing decorating effect.
Bathroom: Wall Sconces can also add key 'accent lighting' in the Bathroom. With sconces hung on either side of your mirror you can create a bright, even light that is just perfect for safe shaving or for applying make-up.
Fireplace or Bedside: Other great applications for wallLights are on either side of the bed or flanking your fireplace. The possibilities with Wall Sconces are immense.

Solar LED Lights
LED (light emitting diode) is not really a bulb. LEDs are cool to the touch and can easily function for about 100,000 hours. Because of that, solar LedLights don't need the frequent replacement of traditional filament bulbs. They are prefect for use with solar powered lighting because they use very little power, which allows the solar light to stay illuminated longer with each charge.Although LEDs come in various colors (like amber, green and red, which are commonly used for electrical appliance and equipment displays, like your DVD player), the white color that is typically used foroutdoor solar lighting tends toward the blue, or cool, end of the spectrum.
There is no need to dig trench, lay underground cables or resort to other expensive methods to install street lighting. Just use solar power. There are no on-going costs once installed, no standing charges and best of all they are helping to reduce energy consumption. Generating their power from the sun means that solar street lights are cost effective.

Benefits of Outdoor Lighting
Outdoor lighting has many benefits. The first and most obvious is how it adds another layer of decoration and artistry to your landscaping. Also, with outdoor lighting, you can double the enjoyment you get from your landscaping and promenades by making them useful when the sun has done down. If you happen to live in an area where the outdoor temperatures are unpleasant, outdoor Led Lights can be used to produce a beautiful backdrop for your windows.
Outdoor lighting has been used extensively for a long time now, even though lighting devices themselves have changed a lotdue to advances in technology and design. Public landscapes and gardens have been illuminated for as long as interiorbuilding and structures, and were initially illuminated by wood, candles, torches, sconces, and lantern devices. However, since the 19th century in particular, the amount of different lighting devices in use has increased dramatically, due to the introduction of new illumination fuels such as gas. In the 20th century, the electric light was developed and started to beused extensively throughout the world, and most outdoor lighting in use today is electrical in nature.
